This is one of the best things I’ve ever read. Somehow an article ostensibly about death manages to completely encapsulate so much LIFE. AND it was written by my friend @michellelangstone. Read it fam! link in bio @radionewzealand ❤️ Every time I go to articulate feelings using social media, I find it difficult to get past the irony of using such an at odds medium to express them. The irony of trying to articulate human ideas using a profoundly inhuman platform is not lost on me. Therefore human stuff is best articulated FACE TO FACE with an actual human. I find social media increasingly difficult to navigate. Sometimes I want to throw the whole thing out, other times I live for the Snapchat filters and cats. I’m living away from my buddies overseas and I love this window into their lives! But I have problems with how other people use it, to spread their brand of orthorexia and to make money from stupid shit that makes people feel bad. I guess it is so ingrained in our world now that it’s not going away anytime soon, but maybe we can shift the balance of how much time we spend on SM vs actually showing up for ourselves and other people we care about. To conclude, SM is ultimately frivolous bullshit which is cool as long as we don’t forget it. Don’t stop with the Snapchat filters cos I love them.
